Delayed

I know it's been forever and a half since I posted last. I have been writing and documenting things in Word, I just fail to update it here. The easiest way to go about this (this meaning updating everyone) is to combine my mini posts into one giant blurb. So here it goes.

January 24, 2011

This is the day of the big appointment. We will find out if we are having a boy or girl. I haven't slept at all, how could I? Jessica and Amy, the ever supportive sisters, will be in attendance in addition to Michael (of course). I'm supposed to drink 24oz of fluid prior to the sonogram. Poor Michael ran down to the gas station to get me some apple juice; water at this point would just come right back up, especially on an empty stomach (if I eat anything, it will certainly come back for re-visitation. I shall update more when we get back home!

Later...

IT'S A BOY! David Liam is beautiful! I will admit, Jessica and I were a bit shocked while Amy and Michael were thrilled. No, it's not that I didn't want a boy, it's more so, I think I wanted a girl a just a bit more. Either way, I am a proud mommy-to-be and so very happy he's healthy! At first, the sonogram technician called Michael and I back to the room, privately. It was preferred, now that I think about it. She measured his bones (and some other things), we listened to his heart rate, and asked us politely if we wanted to know the sex. I practically yelled "yes!" She scrolled on over to where his "goods" were and froze the screen. Michael knew what it was almost instantly, and while I am much better at looking/deciphering sonogram images, I just couldn't come to terms just yet. My brain wouldn't process it. "What is it?" I asked. She said, "that's a pee pee." And giggled. Michael continued to beam. I then asked "how sure are you?" "Pretty sure....wow, he's a big boy (she continued to snap more images of his man-ness)." I can't even describe Michael's face at that remark. I smiled at this point. It was sinking in. She then suggested going to go get the aunts-to-be, and Michael walked out to go get them. In the meantime, I got to watch move around while she continued to take some more snap-shots. The girls came in (literally no more than 30 seconds later)and where very entertained. The technician was very patient with them and answered all their questions. They giggled at the heart beat and marveled at his little toes and fingers. Then the time came for them to learn of the sex. The technician paused the screen once again and typed out "it's a boy" on the screen. Amy beamed and Jessica had the same reaction I did. Although, by the time we made it to lunch, she was thrilled. I met with Dr. Jones, briefly, and she had genetic results on hand. He's healthy with no evidence of any genetic abnormalities. :) God is good. We all hopped in the car, and went to steak and shake for lunch, then dropped the girls off at the house. As soon as we got home, I started registering. Michael then decided we needed a nap from all the excitement. We napped, then had to prepare for our sex party Kate and Marshall were having for us (pretty awesome friends).

16 Weeks

Bad, horrible, me for not posting. I knoooow. Baby is now fluttering about and I can certainly feel it moving. Also, I no longer look pudgy and actually appear to have belly. :) Christmas we received a baby bag from Vera Bradley (thanks mom!) and some UK baby clothes, that can be fixed to be more Gator-like :) (from my mother-in-law). Both made me realize that time is flying by quickly! New Year's Eve is just 1 day away, and the baby is going to party it up...in my belly lol. We also had a doctor's appointment on Monday, all blood tests came back normal!!! Praise God! And the baby is still very hyper. All we could hear was static for the longest and about 5 seconds of solid heart beat before it moved again. It definitely takes after both of us. Michael is a bit more hyper, but I can never sit still. Bad genetic combo LOL. I'll post some belly pics soon!!

Baby's First Picture

Ah, yes. Our hyper little baby. Would it be kind and sit still for a good picture? Of course not. With my bladder pretty full and the technician chasing the baby around with the transducer, that was the best picture we could muster. Even so, you can see the blur around the nose as it was turning away to swim some more. Michael swears the baby has my nose already. I think baby really inherited it's swimming capabilities from me. Oh yes. :)

Today was the Nuchal Screening. For those who want to read more about it here is a link : http://www.babycenter.com/0_nuchal-translucency-screening_118.bc Basically it is a 2 part test to calculate percentages for any chance of genetic/chromosome defects. The second part of the test will be done at the end of December.

Baby is 2 inches from crown to rump and has a good heart beat of 152 beat per minute. We'll know the sex of the baby in January. At the time of the sonogram (yesterday) I was 11 weeks and 4 days pregnant. :)We're a few days away from being into the second trimester!
